Homework

We know that homework is an important part of learning because it helps students remember more and it builds independent learning skills which are essential as they progress through their education and into the world of work.

At Greyfriars, we have a range of applications and programmes which support students in completing and managing homework.

Homework App Purpose Login details

This is the school online homework diary - all homework will be displayed on this app. It is available as a website and as a phone app.

Some homework can be completed on Satchel One.

Some activities require students to use Google Classroom. This automatically syncs to Satchel One so you can see everything in one place. Use the 'Sign in with Google' button and then sign in using your school email address and password. For example: username@gfcs.uk

Revision

Some homework will involve students revising for assessments. The best revision happens where students actively engage with what they are revising. Quizzing is a really effective way of doing this and we have a page dedicated to those websites which can be found here.

One of the best techniques for revision is to use a knowledge organiser and the following method:

  • Look - read a small section of what you are trying to revise.
  • Cover - so it cannot be read.
  • Write - on a piece of paper or a whiteboard, write down as much as you can remember of the information you have covered.
  • Check - which information have you not remembered? Make a note.
